What is Emotional Eating?

Proverbs 25:16:

“If you find honey, eat just enough—too much of it, and you will vomit.”

This verse advises on moderation and the dangers of overconsumption.

What is Emotional Eating?

Emotional eating is using food for a purpose other than nourishment. It’s a coping mechanism for emotions that you don’t want to feel, a way to self soothe, feel numb or fill a void and feel some sense of control when you’re not in control. We all have made these sort of food choices.

5 Things to Know About Emotional Eating:

We all eat emotionally sometimes, it’s normal. Eating by nature is tied to emotions however the problem is when we feel out of control and feel guilty about it, consistently and negatively.

Emotional eating is about emotional hunger not physical difference. How do you know the difference? Here’s a chart below that will better illustrate:
